French Oak carved panel circa 1530 – 1550, of a good mid brown colour and lovely surface quality.
It depicts the virtue, Justice, at the centre within a garlanded roundel, and with two Harpies, one either side.
It is a common Renaissance allegorical treatment of the “Final Judgement” drawing on the classical references in a secular moralising representation.
