A fine mid 19th century French Aubusson Carpet.

Hand tapestry woven in wool.

The famous tapestry capital of France, nestling on the River Creuse, is the city of AUBUSSON.
Magnificent wall tapestries and decorative tapestry carpets have been hand woven here since 16th century utilising fine silk and wool.
Manufacture continues to this day in the many Aubusson workshops and the city houses a Tapestry Museum with a remarkable collection.
We are proud to offer a large collection of Aubusson carpets mainly from the early and mid 19th century.
