French 8 Day Striking Four Glass Ormolu Clock By Samuel Marti Paris, 19th Century. 

An ormolu mounted French 8 day striking four glass mantel clock by Samuel Marti Paris stand in its original velvet and water gilt plinth.

French circa 1880.

A very smart four glass brass with bevel edge glass mantel clock having finely cast ormolu mounts and feet. Having a 8 day duration open movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell signed by the Parisian maker Samuel Marti numbered 2336 with the case number 75.

The top ormolu mount depicting loving birds over a floral wreath, harp, flaming torch and bagpipes above a finely chased two piece enamel dial with central visible jewelled Brocot escapement which swings with the compensating mercury filled pendulum. Raised on floral ormolu feet with central patrea retaining its wonderful water gilt shaped wooden plinth.

In fully working condition with a lovely tone to the gilt, offered in excellent original condition having a very minor mark to the enamel around the winder which is almost impossible to see by naked eye in natural light as seen in the last images.
