With Swing Handle and Iron Banding
Coopered and Patinated Oak
English, c.1850

Dimensions

20.5cms high x 23cms wide x 15.5cms deep

Condition report

Fashioned by a traditional cooperer the steam bent staves are bound with original wrought iron bands, the central two of which house the swing bail handle. Generally associated with harvesters they were traditionally filled with cider and taken into the field to slake their thirst during the working day. It is generally good overall condition with delightful evidence of use and age and has developed a lovely rich honey colour to the timber.
