Swedish, c.1830
Dimensions
5.5cms high x 15.5cms wide x 12.5cms deepCondition report
A charming and sculptural unusually small oval Swedish Rootwood Bowl, in genuine "as found" condition. Dug-Out and hand carved from a single solid piece of birch wood, the bowl retains a natural form and has acquired a well used surface texture and a rich patina. There are visible shrinkages, delightful historic lead repairs and some interesting darker markings to the timber are evident throughout, filling natural all of which combine which to lend the piece further interest and charm. There is evidence of wear and handling all over, particularly to the rim. An unusually small and tactile Bowl in genuine original "as found" condition, from the Swedish Folk Art tradition.Stock number
