First Period Worcester Porcelain Dry Blue Enamel Large Dish or Platter.
Circa 1768-70.
The large First Period Worcester porcelain dish with canted corners is painted with flowers in Dry Blue with a gilt dentil border.
John Sandon in the Dictionary of Worcester mentions that blue enamel was a very difficult colour to control when used overglaze. Worcester overcame this problem by developing a very vibrant bright blue enamel.
Dimensions: 13 inches wide x 10 inches deep x 1 1/2 inches high.
Condition: very good with one gilt dentil with some rub to top edge (see photo).
