A very fine quallty George III period mahogany hanging corner cupboard. The two doors each constructed with and arch-top fielded panels above two further fielded panels and flaked by canted side panels with moulded cornice above and a shaped apron below with ogee feet.
Superb colour and patina and all in fine original condition, including brass hardware and painted interior. Interestingly the ogee feet at the front were always intended purely as decoration and not to stand on. There has never been a third foot at the back, suggesting it has always been hung.
Hanging corner cupboards are immensely practical pieces of furniture with copious interiors yet taking up almost no space. This one is just is less that 49cms from the front to the point of the corner behind.
