Fine Perpedil Rug.
1.61 x 1.15 metres.
Early Perpedils are renowned for their high-quality weaves and creative drawings, as well as for their distinctive, stylised ram’s horn motifs – thanks to their playful, expressive use of colour and form, these pieces are well appreciated and highly sought-after by connoisseurs.
This high-grade example, which we believe dates to the first half of the 20th Century, showcases wonderful craftsmanship and high-grade wool, lending a crisp clarity to its bold, graphic design. It employs a series of hooked ram's horn motifs across a rare ivory field, in vegetable-dyed tones including cornflower blue, muted bottle green, and red ochre, framed by a wide, decorative border - a striking, open composition, especially given its smaller format.
Retained in excellent condition for everyday use, this charming accent rug would make a fine addition to a wide variety of spaces.
