A Fine Pair of George III Period Mahogany and Burr Yew Wood Semi Elliptical Side Tables, English, circa 1790.

The semi-elliptical tops veneered in well figured mahogany and banded in burr yew wood and Goncalo Alvez. The frieze similarly veneered with densely figured burr yew and Goncalo Alvez. The four tapering legs also inlaid and headed by oval paterae.

This exceptional pair of tables dating from the last quarter of the eighteenth century closely follow the designs of Thomas Sheraton. They are particularly unusual due to their size and the use of burr yew wood panels through out. The colour of the timber is outstanding and they are particularly unusual being a pair.
