Fine George III period mahogany Library or Architect's desk, attributable to Gillows of Lancaster;  the double-hinged top lined with red leather, above a deep secretaire drawer enclosing a baize-lined reading-flap and, mounted on roller-slides, a drawer fitted with six boxes with hinged lids inlaid with oval plaques and letters of the alphabet;  the kneehole flanked by six drawers with a fluted and carved central patera in the arch. Circa 1795.
