A fine George III Mug made in London in 1734 by Thomas Farren.
This fine mug stands on an applied circular foot and has a baluster main body and everted rim.
This piece has a scroll handle and the front is engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a floral and foliate spray cartouche.
The mug is fully marked in the foot and has a very good colour. Thomas Farren was a Royal maker and was subordinate Goldsmith to George II 1723-42.
His most important pieces are most probably the fountain and cistern, of 1728, at Burghley House, Lincolnshire.
