A very fine early 19th century portrait with exceptional embroidered dress and landscape.
Whilst the use of water colour with silk was a popular medium, the use of oils in combination with embroidered silk is unusual.
The large portrait of a fashionably dressed young woman was probably commissioned and the work of a professional artist.
The embroidery possibly worked by the sitter herself is worked in rick floss silks.
Circa 1820.
Contained in original gilt frame.
