A fine bronze sculpture of a gun dog with a duck resting by Paul Edouard Delabrierre. Fur finely chased and finished; standing on a naturalistic base featuring long blades of foliage scattered over rocky ground. Front corner of base signed in his tidy block script E DELABRIERRE and stamped "1760 EV" on the reverse side. Rich dark patina. Circa 1870.
Delabrierre was born in Paris in 1829. Produced a varied collection almost exclusively focused on animal subjects in nature.
