A fine 17th century crewelwork panel, English, circa 1660-1690.

Worked in coloured worsted wools on the original linen twill ground, designed as a tree of life with large exotic flowers and scrolling leaves with a rare and large peacock.

For a comparable example, reputedly from Ramsdell Hall, Cheshire, see the V&A Collection, London, item number T.341-1921, dated to 1650-99.
