These very rare silver gilt peppers stand on a circular pedestal foot decorated with a frieze of entwined linear bands.

The main body, unusually, is decorated with engine turned engraving, enclosed by the same entwined bands, as seen on the foot.

The pull-off covers, have a domed central section pierced with vertical pails and roundels.

The cover is also engraved with a contemporary Crest.

Both peppers are in excellent condition and are of the quality of design and production which John Emes workshop were famous for.

Each is fully marked in the foot and with the sterling mark and date letter on the cover.

It is rare to find one of these pepper casters, however pairs are exceptionally scarce.
