The Goblet stands on a circular spreading foot which is decorated with reeded bands.

The Classical vase shaped body is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials and the interior is finely gilded.

The foot is very well marked with seven marks, including a good Town mark and the duty mark struck twice.

This was when the duty was doubled in 1797.

It is extremely rare to find this variation of marking, especially from York.

Hampston & Prince made quite exceptional drinking Goblets and this is an extremely fine example from their workshops.

This piece is in excellent condition and is of a good gauge.
