An extremely fine George III Sauceboat, of good size, made in London in 1793 by Henry Chawner.

The Sauceboat stands on an oval collet foot engraved with an outer prick dot band. The main body is of a good size and has an everted prick dot rim.

The upper section of the main body is also engraved with a beautiful band of foliate motifs and flower heads in ovals, all on a scratch engraved ground.

The high loop handle is decorated with reeding and this piece is very well marked in the foot. Henry Chawner was a Master of decorative engraving and this piece is no exception.
