The Jug stands on a circular pedestal foot which is decorated with two bands of beading. The vase shaped main body also displays a double band of beading where it meets the neck of the Jug.

The domed hinged cover terminates in a Neo-Classical urn finial and, again, the rim displays applied beading. The fruit wood handle is attached to the main body with very unusual acanthus leaf mouldings, not often seen on Hester Bateman Jugs.

This example is fully marked in the foot and with the maker's mark and sterling mark on the cover. This piece is of a good large size and is in excellent condition.
