Extraordinary Pollard Oak Cellarette.
A 19th century carved oak wine cellarette possibly by Gillows of Lancaster.
The octagonal tented top is veneered and centred on a carved oak plaque; the plaque is carved vine leaves and grapes. The tented top is finished off with an oak gadrooned moulding.
The giant lid lifts up to reveal eight magnum sized divisions covered in the original lead lining.
The shapely body of the wine cellarette is beautifully figured and decorated with a centre plaque below the oak escutcheon. To the back, the body is veneered and figured. The centre back hinge is concealed in an oak frame.
The wine cellarette is raised on four carved and scrolled feet that depict vine leaves and grapes and stand on the original concealed castors.
