An exceptionally rare set of four George IV Magnum Wine Coasters made in Sheffield in 1827 by S.C. Young & Company.

These exceptional Magnum Wine Coasters are circular in form and display pierced and chased trailing vine sides in raised releif.  The decoration is in excellent condition.  The sides rise to an everted rim which is decorated with foliate motifs and arrow heads.

The coasters also display a stepped band at the base which are each engraved with the Coronet of a Viscount.  They each have turned boxwood bases with a central silver boss, with reeded frame, engraved with a contemporary Crest above a set of script initials.

The main bodies, and central boss, are both fully marked and all coasters are in excellent condition, the sides being of a good guage of silver.  Georgian Magnum Coasters are rare and to find a pair would be unusual, however to find a set of four is exceptionally rare.

Height: 2.75 inches.

Diameter: 6.7 inches.
