An exceptional George III mahogany Gainsborough chair attributed to Thomas Chippendale, circa 1766.

Likely supplied to Foremark Hall for Sir Robert Burdett.

Perhaps sold in contents of Foremark Hall in 1940.

With Charles Lumb & Sons in early 1940’s.

Bradford private collection.

Re-acquired by Charles Lumb & Sons.

Advertised in Country Life March 24th, 1977.

Sold to Hotspur at Camden Fair, 1977.

Sold by Hotspur to Mrs Anne Getty in 1980.

The companion armchair sold Christie’s November 22nd, 2007 lot 616. A pair of armchairs from the same suite sold in the Messer Collection December 5th 1991, lot 60.

Another armchair from the suite was sold at Dreweatt's, May 21st 1986, Lot 49, property of Sir Francis Burdett's Will Trust.
