Exceptional Fine Senneh Rug
Origin: Persia
Circa: 1860
Antique Senneh rugs from north west Persia are prized for their exceptional quality, fine delicate designs and distinctive weaving technique. They are beautifully composed relics of an era represented by unmatched quality and craftsmanship much coveted today.
This exquisite mid-19th century Senneh has creative characteristics of Tabriz rugs of its era and a crisp clear drawing owing to its remarkable tight weave. Its pleasantly simple drawing is generous in relation to its small format.
The rare light green colour field has natural colour variation (abrash) giving great depth and richness to the simple drawing, framed by a wide ivory border. A rare and exceptional example of its type, it is in good condition, still retaining its original plain borders and fringes at both ends. A one of a kind.
