European Carpet Circa 1900 .
An early 20th Century European weaving, dating to circa 1920, featuring abstracted design characteristics from earlier Classical Persian weavings of the 17th Century.
This handsome carpet features a muted golden field, which serves as a wonderful backdrop to the wide array of colours in its design, with tones including ochre reds and various shades of green, all in vegetable dyed colours which have taken on a charming age-related patina.
The central field is framed by a pale blue border, with a subtle colour variation (or abrash) which adds a sense of depth and character to the design.
Preserved in very good condition for everyday use, this carpet would blend in with a wide variety of interior styles.
