English Pottery Pearlware Fox Head Stirrup Cup.

"Success to the Maesmaur Fox Hounds, Tally ho".

Circa 1800-20.

The fine pearlware pottery fox head stirrup cup is naturalistically modeled and coloured with red hair and a light snout with the mouth in black.  Its mouth is slight open revealing white teeth and red gums.  The eye are blue with an orange background and the eyelashes black.  Around the rim is a dark blue enamel thin band.

Around the neck is a white band with gilt exterior to imitate brass and gilt letters.  The inscriptions reads, "Success to the Maesmaur Fox Hounds, Tally ho".

Dimensions: 6 inches long x 5 1/4 inches wide x 3 inches high.

Maesmawr Hall is a historic timber-framed house, situated to the southeast of Caersws, in the historic county of Montgomeryshire, which now forms part of Powys in Wales.

Condition report

Good condition with no cracks or repairs. There are a couple of tiny glaze losses- one to the tip of one ear and another on the face ass can be sdeen in photo- very, very minor.
