English Pearlware Pottery Silver Resist Lustre Jug with Bird Decoration.

Circa 1810-20.

The silver-resist large Lustre (luster) jug is decorated with a silver resist ground with a bird amongst foliage below the spout and the name Foard (for the original owner).  Either side of the handle are flowers growing and around the neck a repeating pattern of pendant flower heads.

To each side is a large circular panel decorated with polychrome birds.  One one side are two birds perched in a tree, one larger and well painted with colorful feathers including long til feathers.  To the other side are two similar birds on a smaller scale perched above a selection of fruits including plums, orange, melon and cherries.  The larger bird has a cherry held in it's beak.

Dimensions: 7 3/4 inches high x 8 1/4 inches wide x 6 1/2 inches deep.
