The English delftware pottery bowl is large and exceptionally well decorated with a purple manganese-colored powdered ground with three remarkable images of fish on the side.
The bowl's interior is painted in blue with a stylized flower and foliage, the rim a trellis. The decoration shows the rather well-fed fish with a smile that never fails to delight. Attributed to the Bristol or Wincanton Delft Works in the mid 18th century period.
