Probably London

Circa 1680-90

The globular body with cylindrical neck decorated with a Chinese figure seated in a landscape.

This characteristically English form derives from English silver and was also popular in London and Nottingham salt-glazed stonewares and Elers redwares, it has a long history going back to Persian metalware and fifteenth century Chinese porcelain.

Dated examples of this shape illustrated in Dated English Delftware (Archer, pp. 175-177) range from 1682-1694. A posset pot with similar decoration is also illustrated, dating to 1682 (Archer, p. 206, no. 911)
