England, circa 1780

A Museum standard English Scrollwork Tea Caddy of imposing size within its original Chinese Hardwood Cabinet, also having the Trade Label of T. Dalton London Circa 1785.

Presumably the original owner of this amazing piece travelled to the Orient in the 18th century and commissioned the protective cabinet and thus preserving the caddy in its excellent state.

The rarity and excellence of the caddy and the Oriental connection suggests it was probably owned by an Important Tea Merchant .
