A rare and unusual mid-Elizabethan Oak low boarded chest

Circa: 1550-1570
The six plank boarded Chest with lightly inscribed and moulded lid, above a front panel with a combination of chip carved Gothic and Celtic interlace patterns flanking lunette and trefoil arcades beneath the lock plate.
All with further lightly incised detail to the frame and twin fluting across the base. The dovetail shaped end scroll buttresses with moulded and arcaded foot, with Gothic cross decoration to one end.
