An Elegant Regency Period Chaise Longue.

Constructed in simulated goncalo alves, rising from addorsed castor shod sabre legs decorated with finely carved Graeco-Roman palmettes, with similar tablets over; the back rest of 'dog leg' form with reeding and further conforming carving, and a swept back; the armrail of moulded shape, with a scrolled terminal. The foot rest an incurved scroll, decorated with further reeding. 

Circa 1815.

Clifford Musgrave's 'Regency Furniture' published London 1961 shows a chaise longue of very similar conception. The design also appears in the 1802 edition of the 'Cabinet Makers' London Book of Prices'.
