Elegant, early 20th Century Japanese Bamboo and Wisteria fruit-basket (Morikago).

From our collection of Japanese late 19th and early 20th Century fine art and antiques, this elegant fruit-basket or “Morikago”.

The basket woven with Bamboo and with natural Wisteria wood handles. It was woven in Osaka in the first half of the 20th Century and features two signatures that, unfortunately, we have been unable to decipher. It is likely that it was made by a basket weaver associated with either Tanabe Chikuunsai I (1877-1937) or Maeda Chikub Sai I (1872-1950).

Offered in good condition as shown in the photographs. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for additional images, video or to arrange a viewing in person.
