Am Elegant Afshar Rug Dating circa 1900 with refined, repeating bouquets of flowers in red and ivory with accents of yellow, green and light blue. A very unusual pattern for a rug of this period and region, indicating an inspiration from 18th-century European carpets. The warm red field provides the perfect backdrop for the charming array of floral details, and the drawing within the primary ivory border is creatively repeated in different colour combinations.

Antique Afshar rugs are tribal rugs woven by nomads in south-west Persia and are highly appreciated for their crisp weaves, unique drawings and use of vegetable-dyed colours.  They are unusual when compared to the more traditional pieces woven in the surrounding region.

A charming rug with a unique drawing that would be a wonderful addition to a stylish interior - rare in this squarish format.
