Edwardian Diamond Snake Ring circa 1905.
A fabulous Edwardian 18ct gold diamond set snake ring.
The ring with a realistically modelled triple coiled snake has 5 old-cut diamonds set in a tapered band across the head.
The ring is beautifully low set to the finger and is very comfortable to wear.
Snake rings became popular after Queen Victoria was presented with a continuous snake ring as her engagement ring from Price Albert. Her ring, which signified everlasting love for eternity, had an emerald, her birthstone, centered in its head. This set a trend throughout England to wear a snake as a symbol of love worn by both women and men.
Era: Edwardian 1901 - 1920.
Measurements: Total diamond weight estimated 0.5 carat, the ring is 16mm at the widest point.
Ring Size: P 1/2 (UK) 8 1/4 (US) 57.5 (EUR) This ring can be resized by our goldsmith at no extra cost but with some limitations due to the design.
Hallmarks: Stamped 18CT Birmingham 1905.
