A fine early seventeenth century bodkin with ear scoop made circa 1625.This early piece is in very good condition and is struck with an indistinct makers mark . It is finely engraved in typical naive early style and bears the original owners initials.Bodkins were used to thread bands of yarn through all types of clothing. The scoop at the end was to pick out ear wax which was then used to facilitate the smoothing of the thread.
