Swedish, c.1840
Dimensions
18xms high x 20.5cms wide x 6cms deepCondition report
A good early Swedish Folk Art toy horse in genuine original condition and retaining the historic, dry scraped, white painted surface. The robust horse is primitively carved with details to the head and hooves and there is no evidence of any significant damage or restoration. The horse is significant in Scandinavian Folklore as it represents virility, strength, loyalty and protection against evil. This is a rare survival, bearing scars and bruises commensurate with its age and function.Stock number
