A mid 19th Century Swiss keyless quarter repeating lever by Patek Philippe in a gold full hunter case. Keyless gilt bar movement with going barrel, wolfs teeth winding wheels. Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring.
Club foot lever escapement. Slide quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs. White enamel dial, subsidiary seconds offset at 10 o'clock, Roman numerals, blue steel Breguet hands. Plain 18 carat full hunter case with ribbed middle, early type gold winding button.
Signed gold cuvette detailing features of the movement, maker's mark "PM" in a rectangle. Accompanied by a certificate showing the watch was manufactured in 1853 and sold on February 9th 1854.

Signed Patek Philippe & Co a Geneve
A good early example of a watch with Jean Adrien Philippe's winding work which was patented in 1845. It was only two years before the manufacture of this watch that the company used the name "Patek Philippe et Cie".
