Charming early GEORGE III circular snuff box with pull off lid indented with Old Sheffield Plate images.
Unmarked. Probably made in Birmingham. Circa 1760s.

The lid is made of tortoiseshell inlaid with delightful Old Sheffield Plate images of Aesops Fable of the Fox and the Crane. The sides of the lid are also covered in Old Sheffield Plate. The sides of the base are covered in die stamped Old Sheffield Plate with floral and leaf decoration, while the base is made of pressed horn.
