A very attractive and most unusual early 19th century French mahogany miniature Escritoire, having hinged top over one frieze drawer raised on original brass ball feet.
This most unusual piece was almost certainly made originally as a travelling salesman's sample.
It would have been constructed as a scale replica of the full size versions the workshop was producing at the time and dispatched in the horse and cart with the salesman for a few months and used to take orders for full size versions from.
Circa 1820.
