An Early 18th Century English Brass Loving Cup.
Circa: 1730-1740.
The twin handled loving cup engraved with the Arms of the Westons of Sutton Place, Surrey.
The Cup was originally silver plated. Now cleaned with traces of original silvering.
Literature:
Twin handled drinking vessels or loving cups are less common in the 18th century in plated brass than in solid silver.
This Cup was made for an eminent titled English family the Westons of Sutton Place, Surrey. A magnificent Elizabethan mansion, Sutton Place was later the property of American multi millionaire John Paul Getty Esq, who purchased the mansion from the Weston family.
