Dutch Delft Savoy Cabbage Tromp L'oeil Bowl,

Circa 1755-65

The Dutch Delft (tin-glazed earthenware) bowl is in the form of a Savoy cabbage with the interior well painted in underglaze blue and white with a scene of a stone or brick farmstead by the water's edge with thatched roofs.

In the middle-ground, off to the left, are two sailing ships and other buildings off into the background. The cabbage bowl has eight leaves with yellow ribbing on the exterior.
