Donald Wood (1859-1953) was a British painter of horses, dogs, sporting scenes and landscapes. He entered the painting "Jodhpur Ponies Ready for the Second Chukker" to the 1932 Los Angeles Art Competition. His obituary in The Times made particular mention of "Luxembourg Gardens" and "A la Crémerie, Rassay". Wood exhibited work in London and the provinces and his paintings are now in good collections throughout the world.
The present painting "The Boat Yard, Whitby" is a lovely oil painting on canvas measuring 16"x 24". It is unsigned and is framed in a gilt frame giving an overall size of 23"x 31".
