Outstanding mahogany-cased bow-front Stick Barometer; the ‘ogee’ top over very finely engraved register plate with rack-and-pinion operated vernier; the superbly patinated figured mahogany trunk, banded in ebony, inset with adjustable hygrometer, Fahrenheit mercury thermometer, with unusual integral cursor, and terminating in ebonised cistern cover. All three plates are protected by bowed glass covers mounted into unusual cast brass trim.
Perhaps the most renowned Barometer makers of the mid-18th to early 20th Century, whose high manufacturing standards earned them Royal warrants as Optician and Instrument maker to Kings George III and IV and Queen Victoria.
