About the object

An attractive 19th century Derby porcelain bowl.  This fine example is raised on an elaborately gilded triangular base supported by lions masks on richly scrolled feet.  This bowl has a striking bloom coloured background with three oval panels depicting painted portraits of 'Miss Alice', 'Mother and Child' and 'The sleeping girl', painted by the artist James Haslam.

The top of the bowl is again, richly gilded to mirror the base and three Derby ram masks to match the lions below.  James Haslam was the author of the book about the Derby artists and the factory itself, named 'The Old Derby China Works'

Circa: 1830
