A decorative Tabriz carpet.

The city of Tabriz in the North West region of Persia has been a major centre of rug weaving since the 14th century and as heir to such a long tradition, no other rug producing region in Persia can claim such a wide array of designs or pattern types.

This charming antique Tabriz carpet has artistic design characteristics derived from earlier weavings of the 17th century where each drawing in the central field is cleverly repeated in different shapes and vegetable dyed colour compositions, including light blue, ivory, caramel and green, framed in a wide border. The drawing of this handsome rug is generously spacious in relation to its format.

A stylish example to compliment a wide variety of spaces.
