This antique Persian Karadja carpet dating to the 19th century is a highly decorative room size carpet in a sought-after size. It is a classic example of a carpet for a traditional, smart interior.

The scale of the field design gives it a generous, open look, with the lightness of the central medallion conveying a strong sense of elegance. The meandering border with the floral motifs, too, is of generous proportions.

All colours are derived from natural dye stuffs.

The carpet is woven in wool on a cotton foundation and is in very good condition, with only a few areas of very slight wear.
