Ornately mounted with gothic, gilt brass cruciform strap work. The fall opens on engraved hinges to original dark green velvet writing slope.
Hinged lid to interior with ornately engraved Bramah lock with key. Lock plate engraved and inscribed L.C. 17th April 1860.
Within is void for paper with two inkwells, pen tray and lidded compartments for stationery equipment. Inset inscribed brass plate inscribed: Pearce Maker 77 Cornhill (London).
