Rare Large Architectural Clock Face.
Painted Wood and Metal.
With Unique Textural Quality to the Naturally Weathered Surface.
Northern European, circa 1830.
Dimensions
134.5cms diameterCondition report
Wooden architectural clock faces are rare and rarer still when found in untouched original condition and not re-painted. This wonderfully atmospheric and weathered example retains traces of the original numerals and on an amazingly graphic surface. One of the charms of folk art is the variety of textures and finishes one finds and this working clock face has become a work of art in its own right, because of the passage of time and effects of natural weathering. Of good scale and natural integrity this is a great survival.Stock number
