The Citadel, Corfu - Leona George (mid 1800s).
This delicate painting of the citadel at Corfu is by Leona George, active in the mid 1800s. Inscribed 'La Citadella/di Corfu', it is signed, inscribed and dated verso: 'For …/Leona George../11th April/1848'. It shows a sensitive, skilled use of watercolour over pencil, with a poetic feel. Sold unframed, this watercolour is mounted in a hand drawn mount made of museum board.
