England, Circa 1765.

Original 18th Century Chippendale Period Mahogany Stool / Hall Bench with outstanding colour and patination.
 
This is a particularly fine example of  the Mid Georgian Style   , to be seen especially at Oxford University in the Brasenose Library.

The same outline can be found at Petworth House, Sussex in a Suite of Painted Rococo Hall Stools/ Seats.
 
It is more than likely this seat comes from one of our great English homes.
