Chinese Verte Imari verte dish, Yongzheng, circa 1730, decorated in the centre with a fenghua (phoenix) in a fenced garden and a seated lady playing a flute in a pavilion with a boy attendant.

The border with four oblong cartouches of auspicious emblems interspersed by sprays of peony, the underside with floral sprays in underglaze red.

From the collection of Olivia Vernon Mulholland (1902-1984). The Honorable Olivia Vernon Harcourt held the office of Woman of the Bedchamber to HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1951 and was appointed Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1958 and Dame Commander, Royal Victorian Order (D.C.V.O.) in 1971.
